Consultation

For every client that needs their garden totally planned and landscaped, there will be a dozen more clients with an existing garden just needing help and advice. It might be that you have recently moved home and need assistance in identifying existing plants and would like advise on what to plant that would do well in the soil and climate of your new garden. Or you may have recently become parents, or retired, and are seeking advise on how to update your garden for new activities or reduced maintenance

For £48 per hour on site, I will advise you how to make your garden suit your family, budget, gardening style and required level of maintenance. Consultations can take one to two hours, or as long as the client wishes.

Garden Design

Having visited your garden for the first time, by the end of the session with you we will have decided how radically the garden needs to be changed. At this point I can provide you with a full quotation for the design work, specifying the process and costs.

What follows in the design process is a full site survey incorporating analysis of the soil, aspect and constraints, such as features to be retained, drains and service cables. We will also advise on which plants will grow in specific situations, such as heavy clay, dry shade, or windy sites.

Having completed the survey a drawing is made incorporating existing features to be retained or changed. I will then draw an overlay proposal for your new garden and consult with you to ensure you are entirely happy with the layout before completing the drawing.

You may be planning to build your garden yourself or you may need a landscaper to do it, in which case Katherine Crouch Garden Design can put you in touch with several who have build gardens to our designs, although the choice of landscaper is entirely up to you.

I can provide a project monitoring service while building is in progress to ensure that the design is realised as planned and to help solve any unforeseen problems. We haven’t yet dug up any plague graves or Roman villas but there’s always a first time….

We source all our plants from local wholesalers at competitive prices including rare and unusual plants and large specimen trees and shrubs.
